ABout the artist
My name is Sarah and I am known as sysparkle across the internet. I am a watercolor artist currently based in historic Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. My illustration work is character centric illustration with themes of the beautiful and the strange, taking inspiration from pop surrealists, the history of textiles, and a childhood filled with Japanese animation. My design work is based on material texture and simulating other legacy craft textures, such as embroidery or mosaic.
Most of my work is done in watercolor, but I will use a variety of media and tools to create the end results, anything from inks to gold foil.. I am interested in the fantastical and odd in the age of reason and science, old beliefs trying to live on in the technological future.
I regularly post new art, work in progress, sketchbook work, and other interesting things behind the scenes on my instagram
